The former Indian cricket captain, Mohammad Azharuddin, met the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, AICC in-charge Mr Veerappa Moily, and the PCC president, Mr D. Srinivas, at the Lakeview guest house here on Thursday.Responding to a query on whether the match-fixing controversy surrounding Azharuddin bothered the Congress, Mr Moily replied: “There was no political ban in the country.”He was happy with Azharuddin’s decision to join the Congress and wished him a great future.Azharuddin declined to talk to the media. Sources in the party said that the topic of Azharuddin’s constituency was not raised at the meet as he was yet to join the party formally.During the same meeting, Mr Moily held a three-hour long discussion with the Chief Minister, the PCC chief, Mr D. Srinivas and the Rajya Sabha member, Dr K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, over the party strategy for the general elections including finalisation of party nominees for the biennial polls to the Legislative Council.
