Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was admitted to a hospital in the wee hours on Monday after he complained of back ache.
Karunanidhi had been advised by the doctors at Ramachandra Medical College hospital to take complete rest for a week and all his engagements during this period were postponed, an official press release said on Monday.
Karunanidhi had been suffering from back ache due to stiffened muscles, the release said.
He did not attend the ceremonial Republic Day parade on Sunday in which Governor S.S. Barnala unfurled the national tricolour at Marinas.
Visitors have been asked not to disturb the chief minister at the hospital, the release said.
