The rights have apparently been sold to Kamal Haasan. The hearing is on at the City Civil Court in Hyderabad. Kiran had signed J D Chakravarthy to direct the two versions. According to a reliable source, "After A Wednesday's release, Kiran had approached the production house
to buy the rights of the film for its Tamil and Telugu versions.
He was in touch with Sunil Wadhwa, associate vice president, through text messages. The deal got confirmed in mid November. Kiran was all set to come to Mumbai from Hyderabad to meet the officials to sign the contract. But then on November 26, Mumbai faced the terror attack and this derailed Kiran's trip to Mumbai." However, Kiran was constantly in touch with the house and waited for the terror aftermath to subside. Our source added, "Kiran received a confirmation from them that the deal was on, but he would have to wait till December 4 for the city to attain normalcy.
On December 4, Kiran again spoke to Sunil and thereafter deposited a cheque as advance payment. Thereafter, Kiran and Chakravarthy had to leave for Dubai to shoot for Siddham, a Telugu film. While there, Kiran received a text message from Sunil saying that a big hero (read Kamal Haasan) had approached them to buy the Tamil and Telugu rights and they have agreed to it. This was a huge shock to Kiran, who had made an advance payment of Rs 25 lakh to stars and technicians and was all set to begin shooting from December 21. Though the cheque was not encashed, Kiran was upset and so he filed a case." When contacted, the production house said they were unaware of the case and said the rights hadn't been sold yet, but JD confirmed the story and said, "You heard it right. The case is in court."
