Parties afraid to nominate actors

Political parties which are competing with one another to get Tollywood actors for election campaign are not showing the same enthusiasm in nominating them to contest polls.
While the Congress had an impressive line up of actors including Jeevitha Rajasekhar, Jayasudha, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Srihari and producer Aadi Seshagiri Rao, only Jayasudha managed to get a ticket.
Actors opine that that parties may not want to field them fearing backlash from the activists and other leaders.
“We joined the party recently and can’t expect a ticket overnight. Since there were only a few seats it is quite natural that not many actors got tickets this time,” said Jeevitha.
Actors Murali Mohan and Kavitha are expecting a ticket from the TD.
“Actors are given tickets based on their loyalty. Parties don’t want to face the wrath of their cadre by giving tickets to actors who just joined the party,” said actor-turned-politician Naresh who is contesting from the Hindupur Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket.

Poll wars hit the big screen

As if the election campaign does not have enough spice yet, a flurry of political movies are all set to hit the big screen in the coming weeks. Suddenly political movies seem to be in vogue.
About four movies will hit the screens in the first week of April and all of them have a hidden political agenda. While some openly ridicule certain parties, others have chosen to taunt indirectly. Some other films are ironically asking people not to be carried away by cine glamour.
Mestri, starring the Congress MP, Dasari Narayan Rao, started the trend with several dialogues and songs ridiculing road shows. Most of the dialogues also had indirect barbs against Chiranjeevi. Naturally, the movie has irked the Praja Rajyam.
“We don’t care about movies that hardly run for a week,” said Mr Allu Aravind, producer and Praja Rajyam leader. “They will repent they made such a movie.”
Though the Praja Rajyam expresses moral outrage at Mestri its leader, Posani Krishna Murali, is directing a movie titled Raja Vaari Chepala Cheruvu, which is reported to be a satire on the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
An incensed Congress has complained to the Election Commission to direct the Censor Board to stop the movie screening. “This film is like an advertisement for a political party,” said the Congress MP, Mr Mohammed Ali Khan. “So the Election Commission should watch it before releasing it.”
Yet another movie Nene Mukhya Mantrini Ayithe had Censor Board troubles allegedly because it also lampoons Dr Reddy. The producer, Mr Narendra Naidu, has alleged that the Censor Board was deliberately harassing him.
Though nobody can miss the political undertones of these movies, the directors vociferously argue that they are fictitious.
In Prajanayakudu, there are even look-alikes of the Telugu Desam chief, N. Chandrababu Naidu, Dr Reddy and Chiranjeevi. But the director, P.C. Adithya, says that his intentions are good. “My film lists the positive points of YSR, Naidu and Chiranjeevi. It is a triangle political story. It will help the audience decide whom to vote for,” he says.
However, Posani argues that as a tax payer, he has complete freedom to criticise the government. “My movie is not against the Chief Minister,” he adds. “It only talks about corruption. If the Congress feels that the movie is against them, probably they feel they are corrupt.”
If one goes by the lukewarm reception which Mestri got, it seems the audience have already had their fill of politics from the small screen.

Congress sure of just 120 AP seats

The Congress is sure of winning 120 seats and can win another 50 by fighting hard, according to a strategy plan developed by the Chief Minister’s camp. According to sources, the 294 Assembly seats have been divided into three gro-ups. According to this list the Congress will definitely win 126 seats in Category ‘A’. It can win 50 out of 78 seats in ‘B’ category if it makes an all-out effort.

If this count holds, the Congress will win about 175 seats, or past the half-way mark of 148. Category ‘C’ contains 90 seats which the party is not sure of winning. The party will concentrate its energies on ’A’ and ‘B’ Category seats.

The traditional pro-Congr-ess vote, presence of strong candidates and strength of the cadre mark the ‘A’ seats. The government’s welfare programmes, and the split in the opposition vote are other criteria for earmarking these seats as sure-wins.

The B-category will see triangular contests between the Congress, the Grand Alliance and the Praja Rajyam. “This category needs special attention,” the source said. “We have to gear up all our energies and we are going to do that.”

Mahakootami Malli Kalisindi.

Atlast the heavy suspense has come to an end. When Press was played like a shuttle by Maha Kootami leaders...finally they have come to a conclusion that TDP and TRS are now going to be contesting the elctions as MAHAKOOTAMI along wth CPI and CPM.
The seat sharing between TDP, TRS and CPI has become tough deal since few days and ther was strong tie going on between these parties because of their rigid stands. Atlast TRS has agreed to contest in 48 Assembly seats and 9 Parliament seats as per the agreeemnt formally. All of the leaders of this Grand Alliance once again gave photo stills at Naidu's house today after huge dilly dollying.

Puli-Bebbuli : once more...once more.

Rebel star and Mega star join together. News is that Real Star Sreehari will soon join.
The expected has happened...Rebel Star KRISHNAM RAJU has proved all the news right by shaking hands with Mega Star Chiranjeevi. Both of them will now be KRISHNA - ARJUNA, as they performed in MANA VOORI PANDAVULU. They also acted together in PULI-BEBBULI, both of them were huge hits those days.
Chiru expressed joy and said that, Krishnam Raju's entry into his party will prove the critics wrong for their statements that cine industry is moving away from Chiru's political party and the star attraction in PRP has got enhanced.
Krishnam Raju has shared his words by saying that, he will always render his hand for Chiranjeevi in fullfilling the goals of PRP. Both of them shaked their hands and looked like real heroes before the media. What will BJP do now in these GODAVARI districts without Krishnam raju is to be seen. Now the news that is making waves is Real Star SREEHARI will soon meet Chiru to express his solidaritty to join PRP. SITRAALU SUDARO...SIVUDO...SIVUDA...

Bisha,Deshadrohi in Congress?

Don't worry about the names of the above two. They are well known actors who have joined the Congress party. Veteran actor BHANUCHANDER who is known to be a versatile personality in Tollywood who has directed and Produced DESHADROHULU, "Bisha...Bisha" Sudhakar the comedy actor of yester generation, Rajendra babu who has done few films like HUNGAMA, DONGODI PELLI etc have joined the Congress party today.
It is very much known to many that SUDHAKAR is a good friend and childhood buddy of Chiranjeevi and he must know what made him to join Congress?

Nandamuri- Daggubati: Is It A Political Drama?

When it comes to politics and political gestures, it is hard to figure out sometimes whether all that is happening is for real or it is just a game. Something like that is right now the situation with many of the public who have been closely watching the antics of yuvaratna Balakrishna and his relative Daggubati Venkateswar Rao.

Currently, the election fever is on and it is known news that Balayya has been rigorously working for TDP whereas his sister Daggubati Purandareswari is a key member in the Congress party.

As expected, the political rivalry is said to have sparked few differences amidst the Nandamuri family. Since then few words have been spoken and with the elections round the corner, the tensions seem to have got high.

However, there are many who are saying that all this is an eye wash and just a political drama. On the outside, they seem to be hitting out at each other and then embrace each other and pose for pictures during family functions.

Only time will tell whether all this will really work to suit the agenda of these folks or not

YSR confident of Congress victory

“We will gold medal in the forthcoming elections,” said the Chief Minister, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, confidently here on Friday.

Talking to reporters, while launching the election campaign for the Congress party in the State, Dr Rajasekhara Reddy said “our slogans are: water for every farm land, keeping every house-hold extremely happy with prosperity and health and employment to all.”

On the occasion, he unveiled “Vijaya Danka” (drum to symbolise victory) and said every Congress activist would launch the campaign from Friday in every nook and corner of the State.

MANDA KRISHNA behaving like a beggar.

MANDA KRISHNA MADIGA of MRPS was demanding for 30 MLA seats and 4 MP seats from MAHA KOOTAMI till yesterday. He has even shown his calibre by fixing a deadline and issuing an ultimatum for MAHA KOOTAMI leaders few hoursback. When CHANDRA BABU NAIDU overlooked this and took the ultimatum in lighter vein...MANDA KRISHNA has exactly come to know about his practical situation.
Neither he was having the real vote bank with which he was threatening MAHA KOOTAMI nor he did not have that Political finesse which is really needed for a successfull politician. He came down kneeing before MAHA KOOTAMI again today by addressing the Press. He said "If MAHA KOOTAMI was not able to provide us with the demanded 30 MLA and 4 MP seats, we request them to give atleast half of them and make us a part of MAHA KOOTAMI else we will compete on our won or boycott the elections. I again fix the deadline for 24 hours." Anybody of you MAHA KOOTAMI leaders, have you heard this deadline.

Chappal attack on ROJA.

Roja's unusual words against Congress leaders caused tension in Chittoor.
Cine actor ROJA who has been on her trip to Chittoor district has faced a tough situation from local voters. When she was delivering the speech to encourage the local women in Chittoor, she crossed her limit in criticising the Congress leaders.
"Beat the Congress leaders with Chappal if they ask again for votes. Put an end to this corrupt congress leaders by defeating them in this election by beating them with chappal." All was fine for Roja when she took her aggressive stand but the dialogues like BEATING THEM WITH CHAPPAL has made the local women to go against ROJA. They attacked ROJA with chappal and started to make her run from the place of meeting. But the women do not stop there, they too ran against ROJA resembling it as cine fight. Local Police enetered the scene and took control over the situation. Anyways ROJA must use some controlled words in order to make people aware of Congress failures. Hope she will learn the lesson.

Tribute to ‘Soggadu’.

Dasari unveiled the statue of SHOBAN BABU in RAJAHMUNDRY on his first death anniversary and also targetted PRP indirectly..

It has been one year since Andhra ‘Soggadu’ Shoban Babu has left all of us. Born as Uppu Sobhana Chalapathi Rao to a middle-class family in a small village China Nandigama near Mylavaram Krishna District, Sobhan babu went on to become a romantic icon and was the top Tollywood hero for two decades. He made his film debut with ‘Daivabalam’. Even at a middle age, as the actor found that he couldn’t get any lead roles and quietly quit from the acting career. Though many co-actors requested him to get back to acting, he rejected their offer softly and spent the rest of his life happily with his family.
On his 1st death ceremony, there was a tribute paid for the actor at Rajamundry by setting up his Statue on this Friday. ‘Darsaka Ratna’ Dasari has unveiled the statue which costs nearly Rs. 5 Lakhs. Large crowd has gathered to witness the incident. Dasari spoke that Shoban was only person in the film industry who doesn’t have any bad remark.
He stated Shoban babu as ’Macha Leni Manishi’. He also said that " my latest movie ‘Mestry’ is not related to any one and no body need to feel that the movie is based on them. I don't know why particularly one Political party is feeling the heat with this movie". He added that like politics, film industry also became rotten.

Whom to vote for? : Kisses or Thigh Thumps.

CBN says, "If YSR do the romance, NBK can do the action".

TDP Chief NARA CHANDRA BABU NAIDU has invented some new route to get the public following in the coming elections. Already struggling to get onto a final settlement with alliances in MAHA KOOTAMI, he is not willing to get any more cracks with in the party. He was supporting NBK, his brother-in-law for his ferrocious acts of thigh thumping in roadshows.
Addressing the media conference today evening, CBN indirectly referred to the open letter which was published in SAKSHI today regarding NBK's overaction in KARAMCHEDU looking at the house of DAGGUBATI PURANDHARESHWARI. CBN gave his full support to NBK and said, " When YSR can publicly do attract the audience with his romantic flying kisses, why can't NBK do his style of thigh thumping before the same audience?" Yes, he was right in his perspective...but the final authority lies in the hands of voters...whether to go with FLYING KISSES or THIGH THMPINGS?

PRP first list on Saturday with 100 names

Candidates for at least 100 Assembly seats will be announced by the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) in its first list on Saturday, March 21.

The PRP president, Mr K Chiranjeevi, told media persons here on Thursday before setting off on his third day of Praja Ankitha Yatra in Krishna district that the names of 100 candidates will be announced on Saturday after the Praja Vijayabheri Sabha (a massive public meeting calling for victory) in Secunderabad.

“The exercise for the selection of candidates is being done scientifically and the first list will be announced on Saturday after the public meeting. We are planning to announce the candidates of 100 contestants. However, the figure may slightly vary,” he explained. Mr Chiranjeevi admitted that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader, Mr Kothapalli Subbarayudu, has been invited into the PRP fold. “Now it is for him to decide whether to join us or not.

Since he has evinced keen interest in joining hands with us we have extended the invitation,” he said but evaded reply whether similar invitation was sent to Bharateeya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union minister, Mr Krishnam Raju.

Devi Sri For Bollywood

There is definitely no doubt now that Devi Sree Prasad leads the pack in the south film industry as the most prolific and hit music director, the music director has been churning hit after hit at frequent intervals, if giving hits is a good metric for the popularity of a music director it is very important that the music director is also prolific and that is where Devi scores over the likes of Harris Jayraj and Mani Sharma who are selective and are never prolific.

It is now believed that Devi has been approached by some Bollywood directors and he is actively considering the proposals, insiders insist that it may not be long before the music director would come-up with an original Bollywood score. Let us all wait for that day for this son of Andhra!!

'Stage cleared' for PRP's public meet on March 21

Prajarajyam Party (PRP) will hold its proposed public meeting at the Parade Grounds in the city on March 21. This was decided after the party came to an understanding with the Bahujan Samaj Party which had earlier booked the grounds from March 20-24 for its public meeting on March 23.

Since the Parade Grounds was not available, the PRP booked the nearby Bison Polo ground and Gymkhana grounds from March 19 to 21 for its public meeting on March 21.

However, since the PRP desired to hold the public meeting at the Parade Grounds itself, its representatives spoke to BSP leaders in the city and came to an understanding. The BSP has now allowed the PRP to use the Parade Grounds on March 21 for the latter's meeting.

Bring crowds for tickets: PRP

The ability to mobilise crowds is the new yardstick for selection of candidates in the Praja Rajyam.
Party leaders have asked ticket aspirants in Ranga Reddy and Telangana districts to prove themselves by mobilising more crowds for its public meeting ‘Praja Vijaya Bheri’ to be held at the Parade Grounds on March 21.

The senior Praja Rajyam leader, Mr Devender Goud, said that list of candidates will be finalised after the public meeting.
Mr Goud himself is trying to prove his mettle by making the meeting a grand success.
This is the first massive public meeting being organised by the Praja Rajyam in Telangana. Earlier, it had organised successful meetings at Tirupati and Rajahmundry.
As such, the Praja Rajyam is in a fix since it has only been able to find 90 strong candidates all over the state though hundreds of aspirants are seeking tickets.
The party leadership is more worried about Telangana region where it does not have even 20 formidable candidates for 110 Assembly seats.
Except for Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat, from where Mr Goud is likely to be fielded, it does not have strong candidates for any other seat in Telangana districts.
However, the Praja Rajyam leadership said that the party would prove that it was a force to reckon with in Telangana too.
“All leaders are working hard to make the Vijaya Bheri meeting a grand success,” said Mr Goud.

Son takes over KARIMNAGAR from father.

What was expected from a very long time has turned true. K. CHANDRA SHEKHAR RAO, the TRS supremo who has good record of winning KARIMNAGAR Parliamentary seat has vacated the place for his son K.TARAKA RAMA RAO sake. The seat sharing between MAHA KOOTAMI alliances although hasn't been come to an end but the Parliamentary seat of Karimnagar which has TRS Chief sitting safe will anyway be going to TRS and the candidate has been finalised as KTR.
Now, it has become an interesting subject of KCR selecting one more constituency, whether it is going to be MEDAK or MAHABOOBNAGAR is going to be interested. Anyways it is welcome to one more SON in this family politics.

Raju,Rayudu coming close to Chiranjeevi?

After dilly-dallying for some time, it is emerging clear that senior actor and BJP leader U V Krishnam Raju and West Godavari district TDP president Kothapalli Subbarayudu could be joining Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam Party.
Rayudu, the sitting MLA from Narsapuram, may tender his resignation to the TDP on March 19 and join PRP on March 21. The TDP high command is not surprised on Rayudu’s switchover to PRP since he belongs to the same community of Chiranjeevi. Krishnam Raju said he is not “interested” in politics at this stage. “I am busy shooting for my nephew Prabhas’s film ‘Billa.’ I have no idea about BJP fielding me from Narsapuram LS seat,” he said. However, a district PRP leader confirmed that Krishnam Raju’s joining PRP is only a formality.
Speculation was rife during the launch of PRP that Krishnam Raju, a former Union minister in A B Vajpayee’s cabinet, could quit the BJP and join hands with Chiranjeevi. Sources said when some of his followers wanted to join Congress, Krishnam Raju had advised them against it and asked them to wait for the birth of PRP. Meanwhile, the BJP leaders said Krishnam Raju would not ditch the party.
