Has ‘recession’ set in Tollywood? Suddenly collections for all the movies including the box-office shaker Arundhati have drastically been dropped. Although Arundhati is still ruling the box-office, the craze and houseful boards have disappeared. It is now business as usual. Trade pundits say it is affected by 30 - 40 percent collections. Other recent releases have very sorry picture to say.Konchem Istam Konchem Kastam, which opened decently with Siddardh being the hero and ran to housefuls in urban areas in the first week, suddenly started slipping. Huge drop in collections of all the movies is clearly visible. Added to that, Jagapathi Babu’s Siddham and Rajashekar’s Satyameva Jayathe failed to get decent openings too.
On the otherhand, Much-hyped Tamil dubbed movie - Nenu Devudni sank without trace. By the end of first week, the movie was terminated from many theatres.
Normally February is considered is a slack period for Tollywood. But this time the situation is worse. Pirated CDs are also another reason for many of these movies as they don’t offer - ‘extraordinary’ content to pull the family audiences or youth to the theatres.
