The Congress MLA from Malleswaram, Mr Buragadda Vedavyas, announced his decision to resign from the party and join the Praja Rajyam in a couple of days at the Congress Legislature Party office on Tuesday. He is the second Congress MLA from Krishna district to resign from the party. The first Congress MLA to quit was Vijayawada East MLA, Mr Vangaveeti Radhakrishna. Both of them belong to the Kapu community. Earlier, Puttur MLA, Mr Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu had jumped from the Congress to the TD.
Defending his decision to join the PR, Mr Vedavyas said that his followers wanted him to work for Chiranjeevi. He ruled out that the caste factor influenced his decision.“I believe Chiranjeevi will bring about a transformation in society and politics.
I want to be with him in his mission,” Mr Vedavyas said. He opined that regional parties are going to play a major role in the coming elections in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.There were rumours that the present Telugu Desam MLA from Narsapuram, Mr Kottapalli Subbarayudu, was quitting the party to join Chiranjeevi’s party. “He was lured by the PR with a safe seat in West Godavari district. There was pressure from his community also,” TD sources said.
