After forming the Mahakutami (Grand Alliance), the seat sharing issue will be an acid test for the alliance parties.Sources in the Mahakutami comprising the Telugu Desam, CPI(M), the TRS and the CPI said the parties have started identifying constituencies according to their share. This has been kept secret.It will be presented before a committee which will be constituted soon.After the TRS demand for 10 Lok Sabha seats and 50 per cent of the Assembly seats, the Left parties are reportedly demanding their pound of flesh. It could trigger another bout of trouble in the Mahakutami.The Left parties have demanded 20 Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats each, it is learnt.The former finance minister, Mr Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, said that the Mahakutami would constitute a committee comprising representatives from all the alliance partners to allot constituencies for respective parties as per their share.
“All parties have already done preliminary work. The process will be set in motion after Assembly session. I do not see any problem in seat sharing. We know the constituencies and strengths and weaknesses of every party,” he explained.
