In a surprise decision, the newly-constituted Satyam board on Th-ursday named a company insider, Mr A.S. Murty, as its chief executive officer. Mr Homi Khusrok-han, a Tata Group veteran, and Mr Partho Datta, a chartered accountant, were appointed special advisers to the board.The decisions were taken at the fifth board meeting conducted in less than a month, chaired by Mr C.S. Achuthan.Mr Murty has been with Satyam for over 15 years, and was head of delivery. He headed the largest business unit prior to taking over human resou-rces. He was with Tata Consultancy Services before joining Satyam.
In his first comments, Mr Murty said: “We will chart a precise and practical 30-, 60- and 90-day plan that will encompass and address the interests of all stakeholders.”
