Here is the list of nearly 20 family's and their family memebers of AP Congress who are willing to contest from various Assembly and Parliament seats.
When many leaders of Congress say that CONGRESS IS A FAMILY, we never know that it really means contesting MLA and MP seats by the family members of only the senior leaders in the Party. As the race for the Congress tickets in the general elections gathered momentum, kith and kin of several senior ruling party leaders are trying their luck in Andhra Pradesh.
Over 20 families of Congress leaders in various combinations like father-son-daughter, husband-wife, brothers and brother-sister are eyeing the ticket for the Assembly or the Lok Sabha.
Few of them are:
1. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy sticking to the Pulivendula seat, the choice for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat is now between son Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his brother Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy.
2. APCC chief D. Srinivas initially proposed to shift to the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat and field his son and City Mayor D. Sanjay from Nizamabad Urban Assembly seat.
3. Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy wants the Anantapur Lok Sabha ticket for his brother J.C. Prabhakar Reddy.
4. Dharmana brothers — Revenue Minister Prasada Rao and Krishna Das — want the Srikakulam and Narsannapet Assembly seats respectively.
5. Anam brothers — Ramnarayan Reddy and Vivekananda Reddy — are seeking Sarvepalli and Nellore City tickets.
6. Minister R. Damodar Reddy and his brother R. Ram Reddy, whose seats have been abolished after delimitation, want alternative seats.
7. Tandur MLA M. Narayan Rao and his MLC brother M. Manik Rao are slugging it out for the ticket.
8. Mallu brothers — Ravi and Bhatti Vikramarka — want Jadcherla and Wyra Assembly seats respectively.
9. Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy-N. Rajyalakshmi.
10. Housing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana-Botsa Jhansi.
11. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao-Daggubati Purandeswari.
12. Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy-Kotla Sujathamma.
13. Congress MLA Konda Surekha and her husband, who is the Warangal DCCB chairman, want the Assembly tickets.
14. CWC member G. Venkataswamy favouring his two sons, Labour Minister G. Vinod and industrialist G. Vivekanand for the Assembly as well as the Lok Sabha.
15. Tribal Welfare Minister D.S. Redya Naik wants the Mahabubabad Lok Sabha seat for himself and the Dornakal (ST) Assembly seat for his daughter.
