Mr Kesineni Srinivas, known as Nani, in Krishna district, on Monday joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) along with his supporters.
Mr Nani, who was the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) Vijayawada unit convenor, fell out with the party leadership and resigned from the party recently. He spent large amounts of money to give a boost to the PRP in Krishna district.
Mr Nani, who is a private transport operator, came to Hydeabad from Vijayawada in a procession of large number of vehicles and he was received by the TDP president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu at NTR Trust Bhavan. Mr Naidu hoped that Mr Nani’s entry into the party would boost the party’s prospects in Krishna district.
It may be recalled that Mr Nani, while resigning from the PRP, accused the film actor-turned-politician, Mr K Chiranjeevi, of turning the party into “a family enterprise.” He alleged that the PRP leaders were collecting money from the aspirants.
With the election date approaching fast, defections from one party to the other are taking place day in and day out. Surprisingly, for the first time that even the Communist Party of India-Marxist, considered to be the monolithic party, too, is in the throes of defections.
