Suspense over, IPL-II to be held in South Africa

After much of speculation and drama, the fate of second edition of Indian Premier League has been decided and now the Twenty20 League will be played in South Africa, according to sources.

The date structure has also been changed. The tournament, which was earlier scheduled to begin from April 10, will now kick-off from April 17.

Earlier in the day, IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi reached Johannesburg and a decision on the host nation was expected.

"We will have to evaluate clearly and carefully before coming to a decision about the venue. We also need to take the weather pattern into consideration as well," Modi said.

He had also said earlier that presence of a large Asian community makes England an attractive venue for the Twenty20 event.

"England is a very attractive venue. It is easy to access from India and there is a large Asian community to tap into."
