Political parties which are competing with one another to get Tollywood actors for election campaign are not showing the same enthusiasm in nominating them to contest polls.While the Congress had an impressive line up of actors including Jeevitha Rajasekhar, Jayasudha, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Srihari and producer Aadi Seshagiri Rao, only Jayasudha managed to get a ticket.
Actors opine that that parties may not want to field them fearing backlash from the activists and other leaders.
“We joined the party recently and can’t expect a ticket overnight. Since there were only a few seats it is quite natural that not many actors got tickets this time,” said Jeevitha.
Actors Murali Mohan and Kavitha are expecting a ticket from the TD.
“Actors are given tickets based on their loyalty. Parties don’t want to face the wrath of their cadre by giving tickets to actors who just joined the party,” said actor-turned-politician Naresh who is contesting from the Hindupur Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket.
